Train Yourself to Find the Best Dog Training Schools

Training your dog can be a lot of fun, provided you know what you’re doing. Otherwise, as the old saying goes, just leave it to the professionals to get the job done. Nowadays, there are a lot of dog training schools in the market that are offering quality training services to help you experience the benefits of having a well-behaved and obedient pet. If you’re worried that they’ll be treating your dog harshly, rest easy. They won’t. Today’s trainers don’t rely on force anymore to get their message across.

One of the techniques promoted by dog training schools is Obedience Training. This training process is considered a prerequisite if you expect your pet to undergo further trainings and advanced lessons. During this training period, the dog is required by the dog training school to have a handler with him or her. This could be anyone from a trainer to even your friend. But since it’s your dog, it’s better for you to be there to ensure that your pet recognizes you as the alpha dog. After all, just like a married couple, the two of you will be sticking it out together through thick and thin.

Once a handler has been determined, the dog is then taught the basic techniques by the dog obedience training school combined with a dog training collar. This includes simple commands that your pet can easily follow such as “sit”, “stay”, “come”, and “down.” This is done to help heighten the dog’s awareness and discipline to follow. The moment it’s able to master all of this, the trainers automatically move towards teaching the advanced lessons.

During the advanced session, dog school training becomes just a bit stressful. Compared to the basic training it goes through, the advanced training techniques offers more commands that can be a bit complicated to pick up. This includes commands like “stop”, “back up”, “growl”, “steady”, “roll over”, “attack”, and “fetch.” Although professional trainers are experienced in imparting these commands to dogs, given their complexity, it’s acceptable for these lessons to last longer compared to the basic lessons previously given.

Aside from obedience training, dog training schools also rely on the use of reinforcement and punishment techniques. Although they may sound scary, no harm is inflicted to the dog during this training. During reinforcement training, trainers apply two types depending on what works well with the dog. First is positive reinforcement. When this training technique is applied, trainers place an object to push the dog into showing and applying the behavior or command being taught to it. Negative reinforcement on the other hand takes something away from the dog to help teach it the command or behavior the trainer wants.

Punishment techniques used in dog training schools also offers a positive and negative approach towards training. The difference though is that this technique is used to reduce the chances of a dog showing a specific attitude. So in positive punishment, the trainer adds something to keep the dog from showing the negative attitude again. And when the negative punishment is used, the trainer takes away something to keep the negative trait from appearing.

The last technique used by most dog training schools is the reward system. As the name implies, this is done by giving the dog a treat whenever it does something good. These treats could be its favorite toy or food. Most trainers prefer this technique over the rest since it increases the tendency for the dog to follow your every command since it wants to get its just reward. Of course, the only thing that needs to be ensured during this training to make it effective is that the dog’s favorite toy or food is on hand at all times.
